Carleton University’s Faculty of Engineering and Design (FED) prides itself for bridging the talent pipeline in local, national and international markets and supporting our students’ and faculty members’ research and entrepreneurial endeavors. Recently, Carleton’s engineering programs and specifically our electronics engineering programs were recognized by U.S. News & World Report on the international stage.  

The 2024 U.S. News & World Report, an American media company that has published news, consumer advice, rankings and analysis, placed FED in the top 30 per cent of engineering programs worldwide and Carleton’s electronics engineering programs 3rd in Canada. Programs are ranked based on a variety of factors, such as producing research and global and regional reputation. 

“Being named in the top 30 per cent of engineering programs worldwide and in Canada is a remarkable achievement for such a young and emerging institution,” said Larry Kostiuk, Dean of Carleton’s Faculty of Engineering and Design.

“This recognition highlights the exceptional efforts of our faculty, staff and students and reaffirms our commitment to excellence in engineering education and research. Our future looks bright.”

“Earning a place among the top 100 electrical engineering programs in the world and ranking 3rd in Canada is a testament to the hard work and excellence of our faculty, students and staff,” said Leonard MacEachern, the Chair of the Department of Electronics engineering.

“We are thrilled by this honour and are dedicated to further advancing our programs’ quality and impact.” 

The US. News & World Report also ranked Carleton University as one of the top 20 Best Global Universities in Canada. This is based on how the universities were numerically ranked according to their positions in the overall Best Global Universities category. 

The Faculty of Engineering and Design continues to offer competitive and sought after program nationally and internationally. Carleton is proud to remain a top choice for aspiring engineers and design professionals.
