International dimensions of ethnic conflict, conflict prevention and resolution

Areas of Current Teaching:

 Professor David Carment teaches and researches on identity and ethnic conflict issues in the Balkans, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Selected Professional Contributions

He is a NATO Fellow.

His research on early warning and conflict risk analysis has contributed to the conflict prevention activities of the European Commission, the UNDP, and NATO.

Recently, working with the UNDP in Crimea, he and a research team helped deign and implement a conflict monitoring and analysis training programme for government and civil society. The results of that research have been presented at the Association for the Study of Nationalities and the International Studies Association with co-author and EURUS Fellow Professor Milana Nikolko.
