Nideyinàn Is Now Open

Following essential electrical infrastructure upgrades, Nideyinàn has re-opened and all entrances to the building should now be unlocked. If you encounter any remaining barriers near entryways, please contact the FMP Service Centre. FMP appreciates your patience and understanding while this work was completed.

What to Expect During the Closure

During the nine‑day shutdown:

  • Nideyinàn is closed to the community as of 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 26.
There is no normal power, heating or cooling (HVAC), lighting, elevators, or building access.
  • Entry to the building is restricted to authorized project personnel only.
  • All spaces and services in Nideyinàn — including student services, food outlets, offices, meeting rooms, and study areas — are unavailable.

Accessible Routes and Wayfinding

During the closure period, alternate accessible routes are available through the campus tunnel system.

Clear signage will be installed throughout the tunnels and at key decision points to guide users safely around the closed building.

Please follow all posted wayfinding signage when navigating through this area.

Building Closure Signage

During the closure period, all entrances to Nideyinàn have been clearly marked with signage indicating that the building is closed.

Signage has been installed at all access points to notify users that entry is not permitted and to direct them to alternate routes where applicable.

Please follow all posted signage and use designated alternate paths when navigating through the area.

Dining Services Alternatives

During the closure period, dining options in Nideyinàn are closed. Visit the Dining Services Hours of Operations page for information on alternative dining options during the closure.

Why This Timing was Chosen

The closure is scheduled after the end of the winter term and final exams to minimize disruption to academic activities. Spring timing also reduces the broader impacts that would occur during winter heating periods or cooling periods later in the summer.

Reopening

Normal access to Nideyinàn is expected to resume at 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, following system restoration and safety checks.

We recognize that this temporary closure may cause inconvenience, and we appreciate the community’s patience and understanding as this important work is completed.
