Campus Avenue Watermain Replacement

Project Update: Oct. 23, 2026

Both lanes of traffic on Campus Avenue are now closed between the Rideau House and Library Road. This work is expected to extend into the fall term. 

During this period: 

• Sidewalks on the west side of Campus Avenue within the construction zone will be closed. 
• Pedestrians should use the sidewalks on the east side of Campus Avenue. 
• P2 is still accessible to drivers and Para Transpo vehicles via Library Road.
• Loading dock access will be maintained. 
• The garbage disposal area between Prescott and Renfrew House will remain accessible. 

Thank you for your patience and understanding as this important infrastructure renewal project is completed.

Temporary Water Shutdowns

Water will be temporarily shut off for specified days and times during the Fall Break. During these times, please use the alternate washrooms listed below and do not use the toilets and run water in your residence during the dates and times listed below.

Monday, Oct. 26 During the Day and Into the Evening

Time: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Residence affected: Lennox and Addington House and Minto CASE
Where you can find a washroom:

• Two accessible washrooms are available on the second floor of Teraanga Commons
• Two private universal washrooms are available on the first floor of Teraanga Commons.

Tuesday, Oct. 27 During the Day

Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Residence affected: Renfrew House and Lennox and Addington House
Where you can find a washroom:

• Two accessible washrooms are available on the second floor of Teraanga Commons
• Two private universal washrooms are available on the first floor of Teraanga Commons

Wednesday, Oct. 28 During the Day

Time: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Residence affected: Lennox and Addington House
Where you can find a washroom:

• Two accessible washrooms are available on the second floor of Teraanga Commons
• Two private universal washrooms are available on the first floor of Teraanga Commons.

Thursday, Oct. 29 at Night

Time: 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m.
Residence affected: Glengarry House and Teraanga Commons
Where you can find a washroom:

• Leeds House, room 119
• Rideau House, rooms 206, 219 and 220 – universal and accessible washrooms
• Russell House, room 160
• Raven’s Roost — four gender-neutral stalls and one universal washroom
• Heated washroom trailer stationed in the Residence Quad

Additional Shutdown in Teraanga May Be Required

Please note that an additional water shutdown in Teraanga Commons may be required. If that is the case, we will provide details and information on alternate washrooms.

Getting Around Residence During Construction

Campus Avenue construction may affect how you get to and from Residence, especially if you normally use entrances or exits near the construction area. 

To avoid delays, students are encouraged to use the tunnels or above-ground entrances and exits closest to the Residence Quad whenever possible. Routes via the Residence Quad can help you reach Campus Avenue south of the construction site and other parts of campus by way of Library Road. These routes are the most accessible for students using mobility devices.

If your route takes you near the construction site, plan for a few extra minutes to get where you’re going. Sidewalks on the east side of Campus Avenue currently remain available, but you may need to follow signs and use nearby crosswalks to get around closed areas safely. 

To help keep everyone safe, please stay on marked walkways and follow posted signs. Do not enter areas that have been closed off with construction barriers or fencing, which are in place to guide you around active work areas. 

Construction will continue into the fall term, and routes may change as the project moves ahead. Please watch for updated signs and follow posted directions to get around safely.

Bus Stop Relocation

Due to the ongoing Watermain Replacement project, the OC Transpo bus stops Campus Ave. have been moved to locations on University Drive. The following changes are now in place: 

• For service on Routes 10 Hurdman, 48 Hurdman, and 111 Baseline, use the Temporary Stop on University Drive southbound across from Athletics. 
• ​​​​​​​For service on Route 7 St-Laurent, use the stop on University Drive northbound near Athletics. 
• Routes 7, 48 and 111 Carleton will terminate at the temporary stop on University Dr. southbound across from Athletics.
