Speakers:

Sara Fortier
(Outwitly)
Sara Fortier is a design strategist and CEO/founder of Outwitly Inc. She is an expert in ethnographic research methods, workshop facilitation, and design-thinking, and she is passionate about human-centered approaches to innovation.

Prior to founding Outwitly, Sara worked in Silicon Valley for Fortune 500 clients such as Apple, AT&T, and Microsoft. She is also the former User Experience Director for one of the top ten media companies in the United States where she led the consumer products design and research teams.

Transitioning from her experience in the tech world, she now helps organizations improve systemic issues surrounding user and customer experiences by applying the same human-centered and innovative practices used in product and service development.

Sara received a Master of Interdisciplinary Design and a Bachelor of Industrial Design from Carleton University. She continues to work closely with the University as a sessional lecturer and advisor to the School of Industrial Design.

Kaj Hallgrimsson
(BRP)
Kaj graduated from Carleton University in 2020, with a Bachelor of Industrial Design. He won the Project Arrow electric vehicle concept design competition along with his fellow classmates Jun Won Kim, Matthew Schuetz, and Mina Morcos. He was able to finally sit in the full scale working prototype at its unveiling during CES 2023 by the APMA. Kaj now works alongside Jun Won at Bombardier Recreational Products, designing snowmobile helmets among other things while taking in the wonders of eastern Quebec.
Jun-Won Kim
(BRP)
Jun-Won graduated with a Bachelor of Industrial Design from Carleton University in 2022. He worked with Kaj Hallgrimsson, Mina Morcos, and Matthew Schuetz during pandemic to design the winning vehicle concept for the Project Arrow. Jun-Won is now an industrial designer at Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP) and designs advanced riding-gears/ accessories alongside Kaj.
Ren Wang
(Teknion)
Ren is a CMF designer at Teknion who’s delighted by the experiences that materials and finishes can evoke for a design. She’s a fan of a good colour palette, a holistic approach to design projects, and investigating the ways in which CMF can impact sustainability.

Student Expo:

Student Expo is an exhibition by the graduating class showcasing their final product designs. The exhibition will showcase the application of design principles in the graduating students’ comprehensive design projects, highlighting student research, product iteration through design and engineering, and product design solutions for user problems. Their creations will address user problems that emerge in the following themes:
