Welcome to the Booking System
Here, you can book personal time with laboratory technicians Walter Zanetti or Paul Durocher and book a time at any of 3 laboratories: Laboratory #1 (Mackenzie), Laboratory #2 (Architecture Building), and Soft Lab (Architecture Building).
Walter’s office is located in Laboratory #2. Paul’s office is located in Laboratory #1.
Also, you can book Meta Quest 2 VR headsets located on the 4th floor, Azrieli Pavilion (open space).
Laboratory #1
Laboratory #1 is located in room 2460 Mackenzie Building and equipped with 3-D printers, Laser Cutter, Haas CNC, Welding Station, Metal Lathe, Milling Machine, Sheet Metal forming equipment, and hand tools.
Laboratory #2
Laboratory #2 is located in room 214 Architecture Building and equipped with traditional woodworking equipment, plus a Machine lathe, Milling machine, AXYZ Router table, Roland CNC, and Sand Blaster.
Soft Lab
Soft Lab is located in room 214 Architecture Building (on the mezzanine) and is equipped with two medium-duty sewing machines, one heavy-duty machine, one Light Duty domestic sewing machine, one serger, a large layout table, four mannequins, one iron board plus iron.
The Student Lab
The Student Lab (ME 2463) is available to students 24-7 without booking except for the following dates:
- January 30th from 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM for IDES 1301 (1st Year Studio)
- January 31st from 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM for IDES 1301 (1st Year Studio)
- February 1st from 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM for IDES 3302 (3rd Year Studio)
- February 13th from 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM for IDES 1301 (1st Year Studio)
- February 14th from 9:30 AM – 4:30 PM for IDES 1301 (1st Year Studio)
How to Book
To book your appointment or equipment, please press the button “Laboratory Booking” or “Meta Quest 2 VR Booking” below. A new page with the booking system will open (you need to sign in with Carleton credentials), where you can select a required service and time.
Please verify your booking details and click “Book”. You will receive a confirmation email with the details of your booking. Twenty-four hours before your scheduled booking, another email reminder will be sent. If you cannot make it on time, please cancel your booking no later than two hours before your booking starts (a cancellation link will be in the same confirmation email). Please note: 3 no-shows without cancelling will be penalized at the discretion of a laboratory supervisor.
Rules & Conditions
Lab hours may change unexpectedly due to unforeseen circumstances.
All labs require safety glasses to be worn at all times. General lab rules are to be obeyed at all times.
Once your lab booking hours reach 20 hours of total booking time, a lab supervisor will be notified, and you no longer will be able to book unless permitted by a lab supervisor.
