Beginning in 2008, ITS, in collaboration with Facilities Management and Planning, Department of University Safety, and University Services, made electronic door access possible. The Campus Card is now used at over 350 doors across campus, securing the perimeters of all residences, 8 academic departments and 7 administrative departments.
In October alone, Carleton University doors have been electronically accessed over 400,000 times, by 10,000 distinct users with the swipe of their Campus card. This breaks down to 1,212 swipes per door. A swipe every 6.7 seconds!
