If you have received an email with the subject of “You have received a new voicemail!, appears to be sent from the Microsoft Exchange Server”, and which includes an attachment, please do not open the attachment, this is a virus!  Once the attachment is opened, it will launch a file that will infect your computer. This email should be deleted immediately.

Please be aware: destructive email viruses continue to be sent to some Carleton.ca email addresses.

These viruses are typically disguised as .zip files containing faxes or scanned documents.  Some of these viruses are very new and not detected by many anti-virus vendors, including Symantec.

Protect yourself from harmful viruses by never opening unexpected email attachments.

If you think you may have been infected, or if you have any questions, please contact the ITS Service Desk at its.service.desk@carleton.ca or at 520-3700.
