PMC Orientation
PMC orientation is for all new PMC students and is designed to support your transition to university learning, and introduce you to the resources and services available through the PMC and Carleton University.
The 2025 event was held on August 28, 2025 and included talk from a Carleton Professor, a series of breakout sessions, optional socializing opportunities, and a low-sensory area. Attendees were invited to participate at their own comfort level.

- PMC 101: Your Guide to Academic Accommodations: learn how the Paul Menton Centre can support your academic journey! This session walks you through everything you need to know – from setting up your accommodations to navigating the Ventus portal. Get the tools and info you need to start strong and stay supported throughout your studies.

- Learning Strategies & Managing Your Academic Course Load: starting university is exciting, but it can also feel overwhelming. This interactive session introduces students registered with the PMC to the supports available through Learning Strategies. Whether you’re looking to stay organized, study more effectively, or improve your academic confidence, this session is designed to help you think about your own learning from day one!

- Thriving in Your First Year: Skills, Tools and Support for Mental Health & Wellness: starting university can be both exciting and overwhelming. This session explored essential skills and tools to help you navigate the transition to university and thrive in your first year and beyond. Learn about support services offered by Carleton, including resources for physical and mental health as well as one-on-one support from the Care and Support Team.
