First Year Course Selection Guide
Please read this degree guide prior to registering.
Your Degree Program
The Bachelor of Engineering degree is a professional degree that is normally completed over four years. The first year of the degree begins with a foundation of mathematics, physical sciences, and engineering principles.
First Year Engineering Resources
Welcome to your first year of Engineering at Carleton!
The First-Year support team in the Engineering Academic Support Office is available to help as you plan to start your studies in September.
The first task you need to complete is registering for courses, please follow these step-by-step instructions (including video how-tos) to ensure you register for courses when your time-ticket opens:
- New Engineering Students with ESL requirements
- New Engineering Students with Advanced Standing (transfer credit)
- All other new Engineering Students
Next, we ask that Engineering students familiarize themselves with important information posted on our First Year Engineering site, including:
- First Year Supplies – includes laptop requirements and other school supplies you’ll need as an eng. student
- Summer Checklist – important tasks to complete over the Summer to ensure you’re all set for September
- First Year Courses – course descriptions and course patterns for first-year engineering
- Foundations for Engineering – review high school math concepts and learning resources that will help you succeed (goes live August 1st)
