Merlyna Lim, Canada Research Chair in Digital Media and Global Network Society, has been awarded a John R. Evans Leaders Fund from the Canada Foundation for Innovation for the amount of $40,000.

This award, which is to be matched by the Ontario Research Fund, will allow Lim to establish the lab at Carleton University to support her research on the emergence and trajectory of digital activism as well as other relevant research projects at Communication Studies and beyond.

The lab focuses on the integration of data-driven methodologies from information science, network science, and social sciences to generate explanations and understanding of the role and impacts of digital media in contemporary social movements.

The lab will also be a venue for the development of new and innovative methods for analyzing large quantitative data sets in combination with qualitative research data.
