Joel Berbaum
Carleton journalism graduate, Joel Bernbaum, will be featured at this year’s Wakefield Writers Festival.
Bernbaum graduated from Carleton’s Master of Journalism program in 2010. His master’s thesis explored how journalism could be enriched through the use of “verbatim theatre,” and how this form of theatre could be enriched by the principles of journalism. Since then, he has gone on to put this work into practice with successful verbatim-theatre plays in Victoria and Saskatoon. Read about his work here.
Berbaum’s visit to the Wakefield festival includes a reading on Thursday, Oct. 28 of his play about homelessness, done in Victoria, and a workshop on verbatim theatre on Friday, Oct. 29. Journalism students are welcome to take part in the workshop on Friday morning.
