    Biography

    Born to Arab-Canadian parents and being raised in Canada, Hajar knew she wanted to make a difference through her own work of human rights and journalism. She has an interest in writing, political and current affairs, human rights and multimedia.
    Hajar graduated from the University of Calgary in the western Canadian province of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Political Science and minoring in Philosophy. She also graduated from Mount Royal University in Calgary, A.B. with a Bachelor of Communication majoring in Journalism and Digital Media.
    Since she was six years old, Hajar became a human rights activist advocating for the rights of immigrants and refugees. During her time as an undergrad she was the President of the Journalist’s for Human Rights Club (JHR), Calgary Chapter. She worked as a Multimedia Journalist for the Calgary Journal which she became Lead Editor of in 2023, and work as a Multimedia Journalist and Reporter for LiveWire Calgary.
    Hajar has more than 90 written articles in her archive and wants to continue on this journey to make a difference in the world by being the voice of those who don’t have one.
