Hermona Kuluberhan

Biography

Born and raised in Ottawa, Hermona is the eldest daughter of Ethiopian-Eritrean refugees who settled in Canada in the early nineties. She received her Bachelors in Political Science from the University of Ottawa in 2017 and has worked in the federal public service ever since. Writing had always been a passion but it wasn’t until a year ago that putting pen to paper – or, finger to keyboard – became more than just a cathartic exercise. More specifically, the murder of George Floyd sparked a national dialogue in Canada that challenged her to re-examine her values, her goals, what it really means to be a public servant and how best to leverage her talents to have a meaningful impact.

She’s 99% on the extrovert scale, loves hiking, writing, travelling, reading, and is beyond excited to see where the next two years takes her!
