Caylie Warkentin

Biography

Caylie graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and a minor in English Literature. She now resides in Ottawa where she is completing a Master in Communication with a Specialization in Climate Change. She has long been fascinated with the significance of storytelling within human culture and the way it creates, and shapes, our worldview. From paintings of bulls flickering in candlelight in Lascaux Cave to succinct tweets of 140 characters, the ways in which humans communicate is diverse, ever-changing, and deeply significant.

Caylie is particularly interested in how language is used to speak of climate change within the digital landscape and how these narratives empower or distance our understanding of, and relation to, the changing climate.
