Yumna Iftikhar

Biography

Yumna Iftikhar is a Pakistani born Monserratian-Canadian. Her experience living in different countries led to an interest in sharing stories from across countries and cultures. When Yumna picked up a camera at age 7, she knew she had found her favorite way to tell these stories.

Yumna completed a Bachelor’s in Communications from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Master’s in Comparative Media Arts from Simon Fraser University. Her research focused on understanding the relationship between the media and its female audiences. Yumna ha also continued to produce and direct documentaries and short films.

She now joins the Master of Journalism Program at Carleton University with the aim of enhancing her Journalistic skills so she can communicate stories that will impact her audiences.
