The 4th issue of the Canadian Journal of Children’s Rights, edited by Virginia Caputo and Landon Pearson, was recently released and includes a memoir from Clive Linklater of his residential school experience from his book Reversing Canada’s Genocide of First Nations. An excerpt was read by his granddaughter and our Carleton colleague Naomi Sarazin at the National Child Day event, which took place Thursday, November 23rd. The issue also includes a powerful poem titled Seven written by Samantha Crowe and articles by Cindy Blackstock on child participation in UN monitoring processes, Brent Bezo on intergenerational trauma, historical trauma and children’s rights, Mona Pare on legal considerations, Landon Pearson on a Federal Children’s Commissioner, among others. The journal emanates from the Landon Pearson Centre for the Study of Childhood and Children’s Rights based in our department.
