Alexis Shotwell speaks in Edmonton, London, and North Carolina on her recent work

Alexis Shotwell recently gave a keynote lecture, “Claiming Bad Kin: Solidarity from Complicit Locations “, at the conference Global Citizenship: Intersectionality, Solidarity and Living as Kin on a Suffering Planet at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.

Alexis also spoke recently at Elon University in North Carolina, giving the Ferris J. Reynolds Lecture in Philosophy “Claiming bad kin: Responsibility for a suffering world”. Her book Against Purity was selected to be the book the Elon Philosophy Department’s Senior Seminar read. Students presented their work-in-progress papers in response to the book, then faculty offered commentaries to them. Alexis also took part in a panel about her book Against Purity at the recent Canadian Society for Women in Philosophy conference in London, Ontario.
