250 people attend Black History Month event – Soci PhD students Warren Clarke and Nadine Powell were some of the key organizers

Sociology PhD students Warren Clarke and Nadine Powell were some of the key organizers of an event “Still Standing: 400 Years of Black Excellence in Canada,” as part of Black History Month, held on February 13 at Dominion-Chalmers in downtown Ottawa. The event, which drew 250 people, featured Ottawa community housing ambassador and former NFL defensive end Christo Bilukidi as keynote speaker. Sociology student and SASA co-president Ahmed Abdi was presented with an award recognizing his great community work.
