Professor Alexis Shotwell and SASA President Felicity Hauwert selected for Students As Partners Program
The Department of Sociology and Anthropology is pleased to have made a successful application to participate in Carleton’s 2020 Students as Partners Program (SaPP). Professor Alexis Shotwell and undergraduate student Felicity Hauwert, the current SASA President, will be working together to research the state of the field of teaching writing within the social sciences, hear from undergraduates and faculty about how writing is currently learned in our programs, prepare a preliminary syllabus for a new course aimed at teaching writing to first and second year students in the department, and collect research material that would benefit both faculty and students as they think about the process of learning the craft of university-level writing. They will share their work in the form of a public presentation to the Carleton community at the end of the Winter term.
