Sociology PhD student Cheyanne Thomas featured in story about Ānako Indigenous Research Institute
Sociology PhD student Cheyanne Thomas was recently featured in a Carleton Newsroom story about the Ānako Indigenous Research Institute. Cheyanne is a mixed European and Anishinabe woman from Couchiching First Nation. She is a third-year doctoral student in Sociology and is currently working on her comprehensive exams. Her research focus is on Indigenous reproductive justice and Indigenous resurgence. She has worked as a research assistant with the Ānako Indigenous Research Institute, on the peer-led engagement sessions for Indigenous and racialized students in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, and with the Carleton University Indigenous Learning Bundles project. She is currently teaching a course on Indigenous governance in the School of Indigenous and Canadian studies. Click here to read the Carleton Newsroom story.
