Contract Instructor Deborah Landry will hike through Newfoundland this summer for the Chicken and Boots Bursary
On June 1, Contract Instructor Deborah Landry will begin a solo thru-hike of Newfoundland to raise funds for the Chicken and Boots Bursary, which was initiated by Sociology MA alumna Charlotte Smith. The award is distributed annually to students who may have experienced homelessness or are homeless.
You can follow Deborah’s journey, without getting blisters, on her social medias, @Tru_tiful.
Tax-deductible donations can be made to “Deb Hikes Newfoundland: Chicken and Boots Bursary” on GoFundMe (all funds raised go directly to the bursary).
????As a first-time visitor and non-Indigenous guest, Deborah will be walking across the unceded and ancestral homelands of the Mi’kmaq and Beothuk peoples. While she will not get a chance to see Labrador this summer, she recognizes that the original peoples of Labrador are the Inuit of Nunatsiavut and NunatuKavut and the Innu of Nitassinan.
