Professor Beatriz Juárez-Rodríguez receives FASS Early Career Research Award

Congratulations to Professor Beatriz Juárez-Rodríguez for receiving the FASS Early Career Research Award. Using participatory and collaborative ethnographic methods, Dr. Juárez-Rodríguez will work with the members of the social organization CONAMUNE (National Coordinator of Black Women of Ecuador) to revitalize, preserve, and make accessible historical documentation of Afro-Ecuadorian women’s struggles and demands. This project, titled Afro-Ecuadorian Women and Ethnoeducation as a Practice of Freedom, aims to produce a portable community library comprised of a community book series documenting Black women’s initiatives for a better future in the rural communities of Carchi and Imbabura provinces in Ecuador.
