Arleth Lugo Ruiz Wins 2025 Student EDI Research Award

We are excited to share that Arleth Lugo Ruiz, a fourth-year Sociology undergraduate student and co-chair of the Sociology and Anthropology Student Association (SASA), has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Student EDI Research Award! Arleth has played a key role in our department and student community, organizing a variety of engaging and meaningful events through SASA.

Arleth’s research investigates the barriers faced by students with disabilities in higher education, including how drug consumption may intersect with these challenges. Her project seeks to explore whether more effective supports can be implemented to improve access to higher education for students with disabilities and those who use drugs.
