Human-Centred Design Workshop: Anthropology as a foundation for a career in user experience research

Wednesday, March 23 at 9:00 am to Friday, January 2, 2026 at 11:00 am

Students interested in applied ethnographic research methods are welcome to participate in a human-centred design workshop!

In this two-hour workshop you will explore the relationship between anthropology and human-centred design (HCD) and practical applications of your ethnographic research skills. HCD is an industry-focused approach for leveraging data from mixed-methods research to design evidence-based strategies that address complex, human-centred problems.

Creative problem solving skills are in high demand. Learn how a degree in anthropology pairs well with Interdisciplinary Studies in Human-Centred Design, an Ontario College postgraduate certificate with four-month, paid co-op. The program was developed in partnership with several private and public sector partners including Nokia, Shopify, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, and the Public Service Commission of Canada. Curriculum is structured to provide college and university students a bridge to a career in user experience (UX) research and strategy and an opportunity to gain real-world experience by working with clients on in-class industry projects.
