“The Department of sociology and Anthropology has been my intellectual home where I met my academic mentors and colleagues AND lifelong friends. I arrived in Canada as an international student to join the Ph.D. program in sociology. Warm support and continuous encouragement from faculty members, staffs, and colleagues made it possible for me to fully enjoy my journey in a new country and complete my degree successfully. I appreciate various opportunities given to me through participating in diverse research projects and organizing international teaching assistants on campus. I also found my passion for teaching through working as a TA and contract instructor in the department and joining a Teaching Sociology course and attending departmental workshops. My time in the department shaped the foundation of my academic life.”
