“I was a student at Carleton University in the Sociology and Anthropology department. I must say that I owe a lot to the SocAnth department. As I was attending one of the classes and as the professor was speaking, I got an epiphany, it all made sense, and I was catapulted into a new realm of being. Might seem over the top for people, however, for me, it was just that. As it stands, I am on the cusp of publishing a book on addictions and preparing projects that will hopefully have a long-lasting impact. Whilst at the department, I observed that the teachers and staff were doing their best to accommodate students and were encouraging of students to participate in the local and broader community. Honestly, I never did well in a classroom setting, always sweating and anxious, deer in a headlight type situation! The last time I got an A+ was in nap time kindergarten. That said, I was able to learn very valuable information and now I am working on important issues. You never know, all it takes is a moment in time for things to change, for you to fully understand and visualize that you can go above and beyond what you believe is possible and the sociology and anthropology department was that for me.”
