“I developed many transferable skills that have served me well in my professional and personal life during my B.A. Honours in Anthropology and Human Rights at Carleton. I gained critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills that I use every day. Writing an honours research paper gave me the chance to conduct research, dig into a topic I was interested in, and improve my writing. I had excellent professors from a variety of backgrounds and areas of expertise throughout the program. I particularly enjoyed the small class sizes of the 4000-level seminars, where I was able to improve my presentation skills. I would highly recommend that students also take the opportunity to do an academic exchange during their undergrad. You can learn so much more about another culture and society by living in another country. It was also very easy to coordinate the exchange through Carleton and get my courses credited. As the world becomes increasingly globalized, the study of anthropology is increasingly relevant. Anthropology graduates develop transferable knowledge and skills that can be adapted to the diverse and changing nature of work.”
