“I entered Carleton University’s Global and International Studies Program with a Specialization in Globalization, Culture, and Power knowing little about the field of Anthropology. I quickly developed a passion for my Anthropology courses and became enthralled with my class readings. Beyond the fascinating content to be explored through the wide range of course offerings within Carleton’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology, the Professors are truly extraordinary. I felt unwavering support and encouragement from my Professors and the department at large. With small class sizes, I also experienced a tightly bonded and corroborative cohort – many of whom I keep in touch with today.

My Anthropology specialization truly shaped the ways in which I view the world today, in both my personal and professional lives. My courses prepared me for my Masters degree at Queen’s University and my current position as a Program Assistant with Universities Canada in a myriad of ways. I walked away from my Undergraduate studies with excellent critical thinking and analytical skills, and gained an invaluable understanding of societies on a cross-cultural level. The Department of Sociology and Anthropology offers an important arena to have critical discussions about people and societies around the world, and instills valuable knowledge that is applicable to multiple fields and research interests.”
