“The Anthropology Department at Carleton University shaped my academic and professional career. As a graduate in Global and International Studies, with a specialization in globalization, culture and people, anthropology quickly became the common denominator in my studies.

Anthropology… the scientific study of humanity, taught me how to digest and reflect on my own life experiences across the globe while simultaneously highlighting the need to ‘unlearn’ societal constructs. Throughout my anthropologic courses, I learned what it feels like to be truly listened to and the importance of extending beyond my own familiar social contexts and experiences in order to to listen and learn from others. To keep this brief, the community that is created when studying culture and humanity is something worth participating in.

The courses that I took part in throughout undergrad spiked a curiosity in myself that have since led to attending the University College of London to continue learning and complete a Masters in International Development Education and Global Learning and working at the United Nations in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals.”
