“The best thing about the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton is the community. Across the board there is a feeling of togetherness. I know from experience that the professors care about their students. They are not only knowledgeable in their subject area but also effective in their teaching methods. I use my anthropological lens everyday in my career as an elementary teacher who works with English language learners. From understanding and celebrating the scope of diversity in my classroom to helping newcomers settle into life in Canada, my education in anthropology has provided me with a set of invaluable tools.”
