Project Manager at Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada
- BA Anthropology
Current work: I am a Project Manager at Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada where I oversee enterprise-level data projects, coordinating cross-functional teams to deliver complex technical solutions.
What I’ve gained from the Anthropology Program: The experiences I had in the Anthropology program gave me capabilities I rely on every day. Conducting open-ended and semi-structured research taught me how to navigate ambiguity and complexity, skills that are essential when managing projects without clear roadmaps. The interviewing and active listening techniques I developed are fundamental to my work gathering business requirements from clients and translating them into technical requirements for my team. I need to truly understand what clients are looking for while remaining mindful of what our team is capable of delivering, and the anthropology program taught me how to bridge these different perspectives. The program also trained me to communicate complex ideas across audiences, whether I’m explaining technical concepts to executives or facilitating understanding between teams with different functional backgrounds. The combination of analytical rigor and interpersonal skills I gained has enabled me to work effectively across the diverse technical and functional expertise that converges in enterprise data projects.
