"I entered the Department in the Fall of 1998, after years working in the field as a clinical criminologist as well as being a mature student. My dissertation topic was dangerous offenders in Canada. I enjoyed being back in class, and especially the Ph.D. seminar hosted by Wally Clement. After some wrangling over my access to data, whereby my Department rallied to my defense over the objections of the Psychology Department at Carleton, I managed to finish and graduate in 2006. The Department allowed me to teach as a part-time sessional, and then hired me as an instructor for one-year before I moved to King’s College at Western University. It is still the famous Department of the late John Porter."
