Bio
Stenio Fernandes, Ph.D., PMP, is a seasoned leader with over 15 years of experience in scientific research and in the delivery of scalable systems, in the field of AI/ML and Quantum Computing. Most recently, he led Data Science and AI Innovation for the Bank of Canada, where he focused on bridging the gap between fundamental and applied research and enterprise-grade software engineering. Previously, he held senior technical leadership roles at ServiceNow, Element AI, and held an academic appointment at Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE) in Brazil.
Dr. Fernandes has authored over 140 peer-reviewed publications and patents, with his research garnering approximately 2,800 citations (h-index: 27). He is an active contributor to the global standardization of AI, serving on the ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 42 committee (Artificial Intelligence) through the Standards Council of Canada (SCC).
