Title:

Where do species’ interactions matter?

Abstract:

Species interactions are the glue that binds ecosystems together.  Biologists have long predicted that interactions are more ecologically and evolutionarily important in the species-rich ecosystems of low latitudes and elevations, but testing these predictions at the relevant global scale is challenging. Using three studies that have tested for latitudinal and elevational patterns in species interactions, including the ‘B.I.G. experiment’, we’ll ask: do the data support the predicted geographic patterns in where species interactions matter?  which interactions matter most?  why?
