Become a First-Year Rep with the Science Student Success Centre!
The Science Student Success Centre (SSSC) is currently seeking First-Year Representatives to be a part of the SSSC team for the 2024-2025 school year!
First-Year Reps are a crucial part of the SSSC team! Their primary job is to make in-class announcements each week to communicate the SSSC’s upcoming events and initiatives to other first year students. It takes only a few minutes each week, and there are a ton of benefits:
- Get to know a small group of other first-year students in the Faculty of Science
- Meet upper-year mentors in the SSSC who can help you study and adjust to university
- Build your skills by participating in SSSC training on communication skills, campus resources and other topics
- Attend the SSSC’s fun team building activities
- Get noticed! Being a First-Year Rep is an excellent gateway for becoming an SSSC Mentor and build leadership experience
- Get Co-Curricular Credit (CCR) and volunteer experience on your resume
There are only two requirements for becoming a First-Year Rep: 1) have a positive attitude and 2) be willing to stand up in front of one or two of your classes each week to talk for one minute.
If you are interested in becoming a First-Year Rep, please fill out the First-Year Rep Sign-Up Form. Within this form you will be required to provide some general student information.
