Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Equity, diversity and inclusion commitments are critical to the future success of Carleton’s Faculty of Engineering and Design. When everyone in our community—students, faculty and staff—feel that they belong, we ensure everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Message from the Associate Dean of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

As the inaugural Associate Dean of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) for the Faculty of Engineering and Design (FED), I oversee the processes and plans set in motion by the EDI Council. Our goal is to reduce systemic and attitudinal barriers for equity-denied groups in engineering and design with a focus on training inside the classroom.

Promoting diversity benefits everyone and I’m excited to be part of this transformative journey, working to build a more inclusive and innovative culture for FED, celebrating the richness of diversity.

Cynthia Cruickshank, PhD, PEng
Associate Dean, Equity Diversity, and Inclusion

EDI Action Plan 2023-2026
