CONTRACT INSTRUCTOR POSITION(S)

Institute of European, Russian and Eurasian Studies and the Department of History

 

 

Fall 2011- Winter 2012

 

Pursuant to Article 16 of the CUPE 4600 (unit 2) Agreement, and subject to budgetary approval, the Institute of European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies and the Department of History are seeking contract instructors in the fields of Russian and Eastern European History.  These courses would include the seminar:

EURR 4203/5203 and HIST 4603/5603

Imperial and Soviet Russia

Legacies of the tsarist empire and the Soviet Union that influence the region today. Topics include political culture, empire, socialism, class, gender, and non-Russian peoples.

We are also seeking instructors to teach courses at the 3rd year (3000 level) in nineteenth and twentieth century Eastern European or Russian History, which could have a geographic or thematic focus.  Applicants are invited to include draft outlines or syllabi of potential courses.

Applicants for this position should normally have a PhD in a relevant discipline and relevant areas of expertise and teaching experience.  A course outline, CV, summary of teaching experience and, if possible, evaluations of previous courses, as well as two letters of recommendation should be sent directly to EURUS director Jeff Sahadeo at jeff_sahadeo@carleton.ca or EURUS, Carleton University, 1125 Colonel By Drive, Ottawa, Ont.
