The Embassy of Canada in the Russian Federation formally acknowledged EURUS Professor Piotr Dutkiewicz for his “distinguished and sustained contributions to Canada-Russia relations.” A framed portrait of Professor Dutkiewicz will join the first recipient of this award, former Deputy Head of Gilles Breton, who completed three successful postings in Moscow over the course of three decades, on the wall of honour in the main public reception room of the Embassy.

Professor Dutkiewicz was personally presented with the award by Canadian Ambassador John Sloan at a special ceremony at the Canadian Embassy in Moscow on January 24, 2013. Ambassador Sloan acknowledged Professor Dutkiewicz’s exceptional qualities as a world-class resource on Russia and Canada-Russia relations for the staff at the Canadian Embassy in Moscow as well as his colleagues in Ottawa. Among those presenting this prestigious award to Professor Dutkiewicz were two of the Embassy’s Political Section officers, Margaret Watts and Svitozar Omelko, both of whom were former students of Professor Dutkiewicz at Carleton.

The EURUS Community would like to Congratulate Professor Dutkiewicz on this magnificent achievement!
