EURUS Professor Crina Viju was one of the signatories of an open letter by sixteen Canadian academics, calling for a reasoned debate on the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and defending the agreement against a number of erroneous assertions. The open letter can be viewed here.
EURUS Director Achim Hurrelmann commented on the EU’s difficulties in approving CETA in various media interviews. He participated in a one-hour special broadcast by the German radio station hr2 in which he explained the Canadian perspective on the EU’s difficulties in approving CETA and also commented on the lessons that can be learned from this experience for democracy in the EU. A podcast of the broadcast — in German — is available here. The interview with Professor Hurrelmann is in the last 10 minutes of the program.
