About the Event
Since the 2010s, Central and Eastern Europe has witnessed a surge in populism, with recent parliamentary elections in Hungary (2022), Poland, and Slovakia (2023) further cementing the prevalence of illiberalism in regional policies. Roman Krakovsky’s examination of the region’s long-term economic and political trends will shed light on the origins of this phenomenon. This historical perspective offers a crucial framework for understanding the intricate its different facets, tracking its evolution, and predicting its influence on the political and social landscape of Central and Eastern Europe.
