Research interests

William Walters is Professor in the Departments of Political Science and Sociology/Anthropology at Carleton University, Canada. He is the co-editor of Global Governmentality (Routledge, 2004), the co-author of Governing Europe: Discourse, Governmentality and European Integration (Routledge 2005) and the author of Unemployment and Government: Genealogies of the Social (Cambridge UP 2000). His current research concerns the geopolitical sociology of state borders, migration, and (non-)citizenship in Europe and North America.
