ConnectID Event
The School of Industrial Design invites you to join a shared journey of exploration at ConnectID, our end of year event where design is more than a final product—it’s a multifaceted process of interconnected values and aspirations.
The highlight of the event is the 47th Annual Grad Show – an exhibition by the graduating class showcasing their final product designs. The exhibition will showcase the application of design principles in the graduating students’ comprehensive design projects through the lens of United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, a crucial step in designing for a shared future. The works highlight student research, product iteration through design and engineering, and product design solutions for user problems.

Sustainability Mission
As a hub of innovation and creativity, the School of Industrial Design at Carleton University is committed to leading sustainable practices and addressing climate change through design. We have committed to changing the impact of our show through the design of high-quality exhibit materials reworked from existing items from within the school, and reducing the need for single-use materials as much as possible.
Through events like ConnectID, we aim to shift the attitude of sustainable thinking by integrating it within the core of our mission, our curriculum and research. This commitment strengthens our efforts to reduce our environmental footprint and supports a campus that is resilient, inclusive, and forward-thinking.
Strategic Actions:
Prioritize sustainable materials for event setups, emphasizing recycled content and minimizing packaging waste. Collaborate within the department to replace single-use plastics with sustainable alternatives for ConnectID and other school events. Involve students, faculty, and community partners in tracking waste reduction progress and participating in sustainability decision-making.
