George Lynn Memorial Scholarship
Awarded annually on the recommendation of a jury appointed by the Director of the School of Industrial Design, for excellence in the design of medical equipment. Donors: The friends and family of the late George A. Lynn. Professor Lynn was a well-known Canadian industrial designer who, as one of the first Professors of Industrial Design, was a member of the faculty from 1975 until his untimely death in 1983.
Holly Smith Ultrasound Access – Using telerobitics to bridge the gap to ultrasound access in rural communities.
Alesya Moshchenskaya At-Home NMES for Wrist Rehabilitation – Providing treatment and remote recovery tracking post-cast removal.
Ben Tripp Smart On-the-Go Circulation Therapy – On-the-go adaptive foot treatment system to stimulate walking to prevent clotting while seated for extended periods of time.
Kristina Kloosterman Enhancing hand tactile sensitivity and motor control in stroke patients: A portable robotic device with haptic and vibro stimulation.
Purvins Memorial Award
Awarded annually, when merited, on the recommendation of the Director of the School of Industrial Design to a full-time student proceeding from one year to another in the Industrial Design program.  The selection of the recipient will be based on creative applications of materials and technologies in industrial design projects. Donor: The family of the late Laimons Purvins who was a technician in the School of Industrial Design.

Michael Elmarson Memorial Award
Awarded annually, when merited, on the recommendation of the Director of the School of Industrial Design, to a student in the Industrial Design program who has demonstrated an outstanding environmental awareness in an undergraduate industrial design project. Established by students and staff in memory of Michael Elmarson, a Carleton Industrial Design student.
Matt Norman An adaptable garden bed system made from locally- sourced waste materials, with a variety of attachments to suit any plant species and to promote permaculture as a way to fight food insecurity.
Katya Kostina A Grey water filtration and irrigation system to assist in food security within Maasai communities.
Luke Wightman A manual kart design to be used by Maasai women for transportation of life-essential items such as water over distances in the rugged terrain of rural Tanzania.
Ashley Koid A production system for Haida Gwai, that takes gathered seaweed and produces it into a gardening nutrient for the production of foodstuffs for the local population.
Marc C. Gauthier Award in Innovative Technologies
Awarded annually, when merited, to a student in the graduating class of the Bachelor of Industrial Design program at Carleton University on the recommendation of a jury appointed by the Director of the School of Industrial Design.  The selection of the recipient will be based on the innovative use of technology in the design of the fourth-year major project.  Endowed by the Gauthier family in 2003 in memory of their son and brother Marc Christian Gauthier (BID/98).
Thomas Wiwchar Electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (EVTOL) vehicle for overlanding (innovative use of VR and AI in the design process).
Sage Tse Toklima: A Robotic Voting Interface for Democratizing Thermal Comfort Control.
Janine Loo The ShopUP: Empowering small online merchants to connect with offline customers through a user-friendly digital platform (use of market data and AR visualizations).
Sofia Parra The use of thermal electric modules to power and integrated lighting system of winter outerwear.
Gilles Memorial Award for ‘Form Giving’
Awarded annually to a student graduating from the School of Industrial Design who has appropriately demonstrated the elements of good ‘Form-Giving’ in their Major Studio project.  The recipient will be selected by the Director of the School of Industrial Design.  Established in 2003 by Brian Burns in Memory of Willem (Wim) Gilles, founder of the School of Industrial Design.
Elijah Robert Empowering merchants to boost their market strategies with a content creation tool (utilizing social media analytics).
Gabriel Farago A transportable seed germination system that is 3D printed and fully manufactured in remote indigenous communities.
Allan Buchanan Scholarships 
Awarded annually, on the recommendation of the Dean of Engineering & Design, to outstanding students proceeding from one year to another in the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, Department of Systems and Computer Engineering, Azrieli School of Architecture and Urbanism, and the School of Industrial Design.  Endowed in 2005 by the family of Allan Raymond Buchanan in loving memory of his strengths as a husband, father, and grandfather, as well as in recognition of his contributions to the Ottawa community as a professional engineer, entrepreneur (co-founder of Lumonics Inc.), innovator, life-long learner, informal “educator” and concerned Canadian citizen.

Gabrielle Pell Memorial Scholarship
Awarded annually on the recommendation of the Director of the School of Industrial Design to an outstanding student enrolled in the Bachelor of Industrial Design who is continuing from one year to another. Eligible recipients will demonstrate exemplary efforts and results in Human Centered Design within the constraints of his or her project. Endowed in 2018 by family, friends and colleagues of Gabrielle Pell, BID/2005.
Jenna Si A vertical gardening kit for families that aims at promoting a love of growing plants since a young age as a way to fight food insecurity.
Behzad Rashidizadeh Aquapack – It is an emergency kit for delivery to people immediately post-disaster. It provides a water filtration system within a container to allow survivors to safely make use of available water. In the case of floods, survivors may be awaiting rescue on rooftops and this device is configured to be dropped into the water below and be retrieved for filtering. Significant ergonomic considerations have also been incorporated.
