Join the ISSO for our International Winter Welcome Virtual Orientation and In-Person Meet and Greet for all incoming students! Registration will be open from November 4th 2024 – January 7th 2025.

    • The event  registration opens at 12:30pm in Terranga Commons (Residence) Room 270

During International Winter Welcome you can look forward to:

  • Connecting with fellow international students through ice-breakers, socials, and events
  • Discovering Carleton and Ottawa information aimed to explore and familiarize yourself with Carleton University and the vibrant city of Ottawa.
  • Learning about available resources tailored to support the needs of our international student community
  • Developing essential skills to equip you with the necessary social, cultural, and academic skills for a successful transition to university life
  • Exploring the key themes of culture, academics, community resources, social connection, transition, and immigration, all of which contribute to the overall success of our international student community

Be sure to check out our I-Start Orientation program through Brightspace, in advance of your arrival to Carleton.

Through this mini-course, you will learn the information needed to help you transition to student life at Carleton and in Canada. This orientation has been designed to meet the needs of all international students, including undergraduate, graduate, and study abroad students.Topics include: ISSO services, the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP), immigration advising, student life in Canada, navigating Ottawa, and much more!

Key Features of I-Start:

  • Go at your own pace. Modules you can revisit when you need it.
  • Get credit. Students who complete the course will be eligible for credit on their Co-Curricular Record, a system Carleton uses to record involvement.
