It is with pleasure that we share the news that Margo and David Kardish have kindly endowed a fund at Carleton University, matched by the University, to support the Max and Tessie Zelikovitz Centre for Jewish Studies to partner with and support Limmud Ottawa in perpetuity. This fund will be used to support ZC researchers and students to present their research and attend Limmud, allow the Zelikovitz Centre to sponsor special speakers and programming for the conference, and support specific Holocaust education at Limmud.
For the past several years Margo and David Kardish have made a generous donation each year to the ZC to help us do more to support Limmud Ottawa. Their initial and subsequent gifts allowed us to build stronger bridges between the university and the community.
In endowing this fund, the family has demonstrated their value of this critical partnership between the Zelikovitz Centre and Limmud Ottawa and their confidence in both our organizations to serve our community and promote Jewish learning and scholarship.
The timing of this gift is fitting and touching. The first day following Shavuot is the yartzeit of Margo’s mother, Tessie Zelikovitz. How meaningful then to connect this gift, which builds upon and extends Max and Tessie Zelikovitz’s vision of Jewish learning at Carleton and in Ottawa, with Shavuot and its traditions of study and Jewish learning.
