Lab Training and Building Access
General and specific, online and on campus training to prepare for volunteer, capstone projects, etc.
To be completed by all students working in a lab on Carleton’s campus:
- Lab Safety (in person; schedule available here)
- Bio Safety (in person; schedule available here)
- Worker Health & Safety Awareness
- WHMIS Training
- Respect & Safety Training
- Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
- Customer Service Standards
- Employment Standard Training
- Information and Communications Training
Additional training that may be required by individual supervisors:

Once training is complete, you can be granted swipe card access to Carleton’s Health Sciences Building and interior lab space.

Students working with an external supervisor (i.e. not in a lab on Carleton’s campus) must:
- Check with your supervisor to see what training is required by the institution which houses the lab.
- Print and complete the two relevant forms here.
- Signed forms must be sent to Ryan.MacKay@carleton.ca by the posted deadlines.
