Congratulations to Professor David Matheson who planned and hosted the 7th International Conference on Philosophy and Meaning in Life from June 25–27, 2025, marking a significant milestone as the first North American installment of this event.
Over the course of three days, scholars from around the world engaged in philosophical discussions surrounding the nature of life’s meaning— from ancient explorations of the happiest form of life to modern analyses of human purpose and existential significance.
The conference featured keynote addresses from two internationally recognized philosophers:
-
Kiki Berk, Professor of Philosophy at Southern New Hampshire University, Simone de Beauvoir and Samuel Scheffler on the End of the World
-
Iddo Landau, Professor of Philosophy at the University of Haifa, Meaning in Life: Narrative or Value?
Carleton University is honored to serve as the host institution for this important gathering. We would like to thank all speakers and attendees for their thoughtful contributions.
