Biography

Trevor completed his first BA in Open Studies where he focused on History, Philosophy and World Religions. Later completing his Honours in structural Social Work (with high distinction) he felt compelled to return to his intellectual love of philosophical inquiry.

Trevor’s main areas of interest stem from phenomenology as it relates to philosophy of mind, consciousness and metacognition, with a keen interest in how a hyper-fragmented, technological age impacts conscious experience, identity formation, the art of thinking, connection, wellness, and freedom.

An ongoing theme within his working research is technological acceleration, the self-imposed alienation and subjugation of the agent by way of conflating natural and digital world realities. Trevor postulates that tech tools, their respective dwelling spaces, and technocratic class systems ought to be decelerated, criticized and reconsidered as means not ends in themselves.

Further his work looks to understand social issues of disinformation, isolationism, erosion of trust in institutions, political polarity, perception and devaluation of ‘the other’ — particularly when online realities become normative, primary dwelling spaces and sources of information and connection.

When not engaged in philosophical work, Trevor loves being a dad to his two boys, and finds joy in writing songs, creating poetry and paintings, and practicing meditation — both seated and on long walks.
