Dr. Halim Yanikomeroglu, a Leading Canadian Engineer Awarded IEEE Canada’s Top Telecommunications Honour
The Department of Systems and Computer Engineering is proud to share that Professor Halim Yanikomeroglu has been selected as the 2026 recipient of the prestigious IEEE Canada R.A. Fessenden Award.
Presented by IEEE Canada, this award recognizes outstanding Canadian engineers who have made significant contributions to the field of telecommunications. Professor Yanikomeroglu is being honoured for his “pioneering research in 4G/5G/6G telecommunications and radio engineering, including relaying technologies and non-terrestrial networks.” His work has helped advance modern wireless communication systems and continues to shape the future of global connectivity.
